I want to change my shower head...?

Question:but there is a hex nut from the old shower head that does not want to come off w/ a wrench

Answers:
use some liquid wrench or break release to help losen it

Maybe get some WD40 and pull really hard with the wrench.
need two wrenches, one on the hex nut and the other ( pliers type, wrap teeth with tape so you dont scuff the crome on the pipe ) and turn. If you also can get some penitrating oil and lube the nut first.let set for a hr or two before trying to turn,
you need a adjustable wrench that you can open and close
The nipple is probably rusted and needs replacing anyway so just remove it along with head and replace them both at once. Don't forget to protect the finish with a rag or something, when installing the new one.
Just replace the goose neck pipe that comes from the wall to the shower head, just make sure you use Teflon tape on the threads of the new pipe. This is better then trying to get the old shower head off and end up breaking the goose neck off or cracking the fitting inside the wall as then you have much bigger problems to deal with.
Spray on some Liquid wrench and if it doesn't help try a larger wrench. You need a lot of torque to get some plumbing apart
it sounds like the pliers you are using don"t have any leverage, use i nice size adjustable wrench, for the nut get a good pair of monkey wrench wrap it with a cloth to hold the pipe a turn, that should do it, done it plenty of times.
