Just read a scary question about a shower leak. I have a power shower?
Question:That is not connected to the mains. If it sprung a leak, what is the worst that could happen? Could e get electrocuted using it with a leak?
Answers:
Most power showers have their pumps situated away from the wet area such as your airing cupboard. A few power showers have the pumps built into the box but these tend to be low voltage and would not pose a hazzard. Overall if your consumer unit (fuse board) is of the modern type any short caused by a leak will trip the power in a under a second.
yeah you will get a nasty shock fo sure.. na i dont know really
providing the power cable is disconnected or the fuse to it is removed you will be ok, otherwise there is a high probability of danger to anyone using it, get it checked out immediately by a qualified electrician.
I have a power shower too and the installers left the mains cable live and disconnected it was only 3 mms away from the copper pipe that the water came through, i reported it and they didnt want to know. I could have been killed.
You must have a circulating pump for your shower. I have not heard of a "power shower" and I've been in the trades for 28 years now. A circulating pump usually is install at your water heater and will increase pressure at all fixtures. So you should not have a problem with electricity coming in contact with your shower leak. Remember, any leak is bad for your home and you should correct the problem as soon as possible.
'Don't quite understand question. If it is not connected to 'mains' I can't see how you could get electrocuted. But do you mean electric mains or water mains. As long as it is wired properly and 'earthed' you should be ok.
don't guess about it Rachael its a killer water and electric don't mix so call in a professional! to use it as it is your dicing with death
