How many BTUS to air condition 800 square feet?
Question:
Answers:
normally one ton or 12000 btu's will cool somewhere between 500 to 750 sq ft depending on your heat gain/loss calculations.i would recommend 1 1/2 tons or 18000 btu's...one thing to remerber if you have a lot of glass surface in your 800 sq ft and the longest side of your home faces southwest...it will take all 11/2 tons to keep it cool...especially if you are in the southern part of the US.
25x32 = 800 sq. feet, that would require 15,000 btu's of cooling is my opinion, would i would suggest if i was needing cooled down.
here is my redneck rule of thumb
1 bedroom needs at least 5000 btu ac but 6000 would be better
so 6000 for each comfy BR 3 bedrooms 18000 BTU
simple right?
you need 10,000 to 12,000 btu. 12,000 is equal to 1 ton which will cool roughly 1000 sq. ft
My bed room is that size and I have a 10,000 btu window AC unit and it gets so cold in there some nights my wife pleads with me to turn it down. It brings the temp down to about 65 on the medium setting (it's not a fancy one with all sorts of dials and jazz). For general all around use, 10,000 BTU works well for most medium to large room sizes.
30,000 btus should do it.
12000 btu's
