How do you properly measure to fit a refrigerator?

Question:

Answers:
Use a tape measure to figure the height, width and depth of your opening. Measure your prospective refrigerator from floor to top and side to side. Open the door and measure the distance from the back to the opened door.

Measure the 'opening' where your new fridge is going to go. Now armed with the numbers, look for a fridge that will be at least 50mm or 2 inches smaller than your opening size, thereby leaving a gap on both sides and at the back away from the wall, allowing for proper ventilation. The front of the fridge at the hinge edge of the door, will need to be level with the opening to allow for the door/s to open without any hindrance. Extra space at the back is no problem, in fact it is good for the ventilation and to allow economical running of the fridge, as it then shouldn't run hot from over working in the confined space.
