Where to buy a piece of thick carpet with padding??

Question:I'm looking for a piece of carpet that is going to be put over ceramic tile so that my 1 year old doesn't fall and hit his head if he falls off of the couch or when he falls down. This piece won't cover the whole room, but I need somewhere to cut me a piece to the exact shape I need to cover an odd shaped room. I do not plan on having it installed because we are renting and I can't ruin their nice flooring underneath. Where do I look for a piece of thick carpeting that can be cut to my exact measurements??

Also, what kind of carpet is VERY thick?

Answers:
Go to a carpet store and see if they have any remants. You should be able to get the carpet pretty cheap, if you are flexible. A lot of the time the softness or the plush feel of the carpet is based on the padding more so than the carpet itself.

Any Carpet store can accomodate you.
Any carpet store should be able to cut to your dimensions. We used Home Depot for our living room. The "fluffy" of the carpet is from the pad. My dad will install a much higher quality pad instead of upgrading carpet.

That said, with you renting, just try a thick Berber.
Go to a store that sells carpets and ask for remennets (left over pieces). They should have several to choose from.
