Is 3450 RPM too much for a resawing bandsaw?

Question:Or would it be more beneficial than say a 2850RPM motor?

Answers:
Yes, it is way too much. The blade at that speed will overheat and mar the wood and most likely break, creating a dangerous safety issue. The best speed is between 800 and 1200, but it's really the horsepower and/or amp's that do the work (torque). Also make sure the blade is very sharp, with a lower amount of teeth per inch in the wood as it runs (3-4) working the most efficiently.

My band saw runs at 1750 rpm, it has 2 speeds, but it is measured at feet per minute. It sounds a little high, but give it a try.
