I have regular wall paint and was wondering if i could paint a metal lamp with it and it would stick?

Question:thanks so much!

Answers:
Probably not. Rustoleum.

Probably not, it would nick right off when you scratched it. You can scratch the metal up with a sand block or find the matching paint at a local home depot/lowes. They can match a lot of paint. They make paints specifically for metal, you can try it but your waiting time , paint & money (speaking from experience).
Give it a try & see what happens but truthfully, I don't think the paint would adhere to the lamp. Rough up the lamp with some sand paper & maybe that'll help.
If by "regular" you mean water based acrylic or latex, no, it will not stick (at, least, not for long). It will get little scratches and peel, especially where the lamp is handled. The "slicker" the metal, the worse it will look. Also, it will be hard to apply the paint evenly, as it will not want to stick to the metal, giving it a blotchy appearence. You would be better off buying a can of spray paint for this project.
No, it will not stick to the metal. Best bet, would be spray paint the lamp
