Is there a way to turn a regular wall outlit into a 220watt for a dryer with just using the wires in the wall?
Question:I need to use the wires from a regular wall outlit and turn it into a dryer outlit! All I am really doing is changing the location of the dryer! But how?
Answers:
no
To turn a regular 110 volt outlet to a 220 volt outlet you need to run larger wire, and have it wired differently in the electrical box. I would suggest a licenced electrician.
Do NOT do that! You need larger wire going to the outlet.
Can't do it, sorry. The current drawn by an electric dryer is more than standard wiring can take. Most dryers use #10 AWG (American wire guage) which is normally breaker protected at 30 amps.
Have a skilled electrician solve your delema.
I guess you can do anything you want to if y ou don't mind burning your house down.
NO
You must have a 220 volt circuit established at the breaker box. Best to have a licensed electrician do the work.
Not unless it's fed with 10/3 g and is on a circuit by itself.
yes it can be done as long as you have the right wire size and the outlet is a dedicated circuit meaning the breaker only controls that outlet no others, first you have to id the breaker that controls the outlet turn it off then remove the breaker panel cover now you should be able to see all the wires follow the wire from the breaker it should pair up with a White wire and a ground wire where it exits the panel follow the white wire back to the neutral buss bar and disconnect it now the wire from the breaker disconnect IT from the breaker remove the breaker and replace with a 220 breaker connect the two wires to the breaker in off position leave off remove the 120 volt out\let and replace with a 220 outlet make sure to mark the white wire with black or red tape close everything up and turn the breaker on test your circut .
remember that if you have 12 gage wire 20 amps max
14 gage wire 15 amps max
10 gage wire 30 amps max
