How long does it take to put up a fence?
Question:It will be 6' high cedar, about 80' straight with one gate.
Answers:
a good while b/c you set the post a day before you use them. The concrete needs time to dry. Also i would advise you rent a nail gun. How fast it goes kind of depends on you and how many people are helping you.
As long as it takes you to dig 12 holes and tamp them in around the posts.
2 men 2 day 10 post set and cemented at bottom.
It depends on your tools, your strength and your friends. If you rent a power auger for the posts, that part can be done in an hour (digging is NOT fun). Then, you level the posts and set them in fast-setting concrete overnight. Make sure your spacing is perfect. Attach your fence panels--probably a few hours with power tools and some help. Finally, install the gate--getting it hung right, about a couple hours. Remember, the DIGGING takes the longest, so rent that tool!
i know a guy who did 130 feet in about a week. the fence boards were prepainted in the garage during a rainy week. then he pulled out the old fence section by section, replacing each with new as he went.he had a local problem with the kids in the neighbourhood kicking boards off. so he used deck screws and pre drilled all the holes. hasn't lost but two boards and they were kicked out by grown men. [some kind of sport eh ?]
the posts were not cemented in, but the holes were dug about 7 inches deeper than needed and then filled with gravel to the height required he used a 60 year old hand auger for this task. it's been standing for 10 years and no problem except the aforementioned.
The posts will take 1 day to dig and 1 day to set in concrete, if you have pre made panels I would say 2 days to install then, if you are constructing the panels then 4-5 days
Depending on how rocky and experienced the fence builder is will be the biggest reason in the time element. And if its really rocky and you have to get those post down deep will there need to be some blasting done as well? I would say if everything is in ones favor this should be completed in a days time. But without the proper equipment and blasting and so forth it could take considerably more time.
one day to remove old fence and go to dumps and pick up materials ,one day to sink post in concrete one two days to carry and nail fence off ,that is a perfect life .also stop at the day labor camp and pick up some help no need for you to dig and carry the thing
