What is a do it yourself solution to resurfacing a flat top grill and what is the best way to clean one?

Question:I have a Flat top Grill/Griddle about 4ft. by 5ft. it has some minor groves in it how could i do a minor resurface job to it myself without getting it professionally done and what would be the best way to clean it to have that "Brand new" nice and silver look to it?

Answers:
a grill brick to clean it... and then maybe some rough sandpaper and a sander?

First start with a grill brick, then use a green 'scotchbrite' pad.
Once you have it cleaned with the abrasive part to get that really new look use a cleansing powder (Comet or equivalent) and steel wool (OO grit). Then clean the whole grill top with water. Once completely clean and dry, apply a thin coating of cooking oil to protect it from rust.
You will not be able to remove deep scratches but between the brick and pad you can get out minor ones fairly easy.
Once you heat it back up it will darken again.
So repeating the final steps after each use will keep it shiny and bright.
