How do I plant fescus {Shade} seed?

Question:I have a few dry patches of dirt in my front yard, since I don't have a tiller I'm wondering if I can just sprinkle some miracle gardening soil on the patchy area and sprinkle some fescus seed on it , cover it with hay and water it, will the seeds take and turn into grass?

Answers:
Remove the dead grass, rake the soil, sow the seed then cover by tamping the loose raked soil down. To make the seed germinate quicker store it in your refrigerator for 48 hours first, this will make the seed think it has 'slept' all winter and it will be raring to go! Water the first time with a weak solution of dish soap and water (the dish soap will help break the surface tension of the soil). Keep the soil damp and do not mow until the new grass is over 2 inches high.

If you lost the grass that was there due to fungs, you should treat first then spread compost. You don't have to use a tiller but it would be better to at least use a pitch fork and break up the ground some especially if compacted. I think the rest of your plan sounds great. Good luck.
