Removing varnish?

Question:I have removed a coat of paint from a bookcase only to discover what looks like at least one coat of varnish. Do I need to purchase a sripper from the hardware store or is there a more economic and eviromentally safer way for good results?

Answers:
if the book case doesn't have any designs or molding i would get a good electic hand sander, or go with the varnish remover. which you'll still need to sand afterwards still

Most definately they make a stripper that is green now ,works good too you can actually put your hand in it with no problems I know they sell it at Home Depot and My local Pittsburgh paint store It is called Ready-strip I am sure they have a web site you put it on it changes color when it is ready it is awesome good luck from Texas
