Why is my Singer sewing machine stitching extremely slow? It never acted like this before?

Check the belt that runs the machine head from the motor wheel, the belt may be loose or old and that may cause no strength while motor running, if that may be the reason, you may remove the belt and cut few centimiters short from the belt connection point,
also keep maintaining by adding oil under the chrome plate where the thread is located,
is there someting in the foot pedal that is keping it from depressing all the way
