Do you have a hallway outside of your bedroom that has a spot to put it. If so,and you like it too much to return, then remember it is furniture, and it isn't a bed so it can go elsewhere . If it's not too tall, put in the hallway, mirror over top, plant on top and a wooden chair with an upholstered seat next to it. It would give an inviting look to people at the top of the stairs or down the hallway, andyou could even put a lamp on it. It would be just outside the bedroom so you could step out, pick out your clothes and step back in. If it's tall, put the mirror over the chair and a plant stand with plant on the other side. If you don't have a hallway, then so you have a closet wide and deep enough to set the dresser into. It would give it the appearance of a built-in. If it has tall legs on it, saw the legs shorter so it will go below the vent. Otherwise, return it.and buy an end of the bed chest and another against the wall.
You should have measured first, but since you didn't - if you want to keep it, don't use your AC because the obstruction will cost you alot in energy use, and it would be wise to cover the vent with a magnetic cover to keep your air ducts clean and free from bugs flying in if you are not using it.
Better to sell it or trade for one the right size, it sounds like you just bought it, so maybe you can still exchange or return it.
Good luck.!
be hot!
You can sometimes buy covers that redirect the air to put over a vent. Try Menards or Home Depot.
How big is the vent? If it's just a cold air supply vent you may get up in the attic and see if you can disconnect it and reconnect thru celing. It wouldn't be too big a job. Or leave it as is because that air is still coming in it's not totally blocked is it? If yes shut vent and get fan to blow in some cold air from other part of house.
