What would be a good thing to learn...do it yourself?
Question:When I was 16 & wanted to drive, dad made me change a tire before I left driveway. Dad always fixed every thing, and now I'm trying! I'm female, 55 yrs old. Have fixed lights, installed faucets, fixed furnace, installed new pump & watersoftener & hotwater heater. Change tires on car, truck, lawn tractor, repair & install new drywall, build doghouse, help with trim work. Always try everything, what else is a good thing to learn? Always love to try new things!
Answers:
If you want a big challenge-welding or glass blowing, or if you want to make good money-HVAC. : )
Other than that, I personally would recommend something creative, for a change, like ceramics, copper enameling or painting. How about fencing or African Dance??
Learn to lay tile. It's easy, it's fun.
I personally love to do woodworking. It is not just a hobby to while away the hours as the product is highly valuable and individualized. The down side is that it is expensive to start. $10K for a basic set of tools and equipment. Much more for a sophisticated set.
Congradulations on always wanting to try and learn new things.
I myself live by the mantra of "learn something new everyday, if not your day was wasted."
Life is definately too short to be narrow minded.
Well it seems that you like the small equipment handyman stuff to repair.
You might think about learning how to repair things like toasters or microwaves.( I hate those little things) They definately test my paitence.
Also washers or refrigerators. I don't like those to=)
Anything plumbing. I've learned so much about it from my husband. I'm sure glad he's there - I can't imagine having to pay for a plumber to come out to do jobs that take 15 minutes. Learn to install a new toilet, replace the wax ring on one, fix it when it won't stop running, etc.
tile- you will have to make cuts and angles (maybe) and it is an instant improvement
