Can i lay a new carpet runner on top of new carpet?
Question:
Answers:
yes
there should be no problems. but if it is a plastic runner the dirt that you may have on your feet will only be transferred down the room/hall.
Sure you can.
If you like redundancy. Let me say that again...
I won't be redundant directly, I hope.
I offer the analogy... Just yesterday I moved a bunch of stacked boxes from my living room. They probably weighed at least as much as the 50 gal. of water plus tank. The carpet beneath was cleaner than that surrounding the boxes.
Normally an area rug/runner would tend to shift when laid over most synth. fiber carpeting, unless you used a gripper substance, or as one suggested an office desk chair plastic covering.
In your case what may happen (especially if the additional piece is a minimal size) is that it's edges may be forced up by the weight on top, thus producing an opening for residue, at least at the perimeters.
Another issue eventually will be the "impression" left after/whenever you might remove the tank. Most quality foam padding materials have a "memory"; hence your footprints don't remain as depressions when you walk on the carpet. Over the long term however, with that much weight it's possible you will leave impressions after the fact.

yes you can its fine, i have done a similar thing in my own home
* the disadvantage would be if the carpet got wet you will have a job to dry it.it could also cause friction .if you have an allergy to the house mite it will cause you problems too.hope this helps.
