How to get my floor boards to shine again?

Question:

Answers:
refinish them? Use a polyurethane varnish?

We need to know what kind of floor you have. And what happened to them.
yes, we need to know what happened to them? what kind of wood? how old is the floor? whatever you know!
Pick an area that is not noticeable (maybe the floor in the closet) use 00steel wool, or 200 grit sand paper. Rub/sand until the surface looks very dull, then clean well with soft cloth dampened with mineral spirits. Apply a coat of polyurethane, your desired gloss.satin, semi, or high gloss. Let dry, and lightly sand and apply a second coat.
If this produces the desired result, then continue with the rest of the floor. Good Luck
