How can i become a licence carpenter.?
Question:i like carpentry .. what are the steps and how long does it take.
Answers:
Every state has a differant system. Your best bet is to call The Contractors Registration and Review board to see what the general requirements may be for your specific area. I know here in Rhode Island it just takes contractors insurance and $120 every 2 years to be called a "contractor" if you want to go to school, you have to attend a technical school, or work for someone for some time
go to the biggest carpentry place and see if they will hire you--they will probably send you off to city hall to actully get the licence.1-3 weeks (sorry if that is broad)
Carpenters don't have licenses.
Only the smart trades, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, require licensing.
Carpentry is a non-licensed trade, but to consider yourself as a carpenter you should become a Carpenter's Apprentice. after 3-4 years as an Apprentice you could be considered a Journeyman Carpenter. Having said that, the time spent has to be quality time, otherwise you are just another "HACK".
A carpenter may not be licensed like other Trades, But he must have some knowledge of all trades to be competent, and no other trade works until the Carpenter builds something.
