Can anyone give me any tips on laying a birch plywood 4by4 squares on a cement floor as a finished floor?

You need a barrier between the wood and concrete, foam sheeting. you also need to let the wood move with swelling with moisture and shrinking when dry.


Not much different than installing a parquet floor. You don't state the thickness, or if the 4 x 4 is in feet or inches,,,but you should use and underlayment no matter.

If the edges are finished/milled to butt tight, and you stain or clear coat with Poly, Birch veneer ply is an attractive wood. Sealing it all will decrease issues between each seam.

Hey, why dont you use a inexpensive laminate flooring? Its easy to install no glue or nailing. Cheaper than the birch plywood. Perfect for a concrete subfloor and looks like nice hardwood. Go to costco, sams club or look online You will love it! Good luck, swequin
