What painting sequence do I use to paint my kitchen?

Question:I want to spray paint my kitchen walls yellow (water-based enamel) and roller-paint my kitchen ceiling with flat white paint. Which should I paint first, the wall or the ceiling, and can I use painter's masking tape (blue 3M tape). Which should I mask, the ceiling or walls ?

Answers:
It's always better to work from the top down. But if your going to spray the walls you may want to do that first since you will get over-spray. Why don't you roll the walls also? Anyway the green tape is better than the blue. Good luck

normally you would start with the ceiling then do the walls. but, since you are spraying the walls, it would be pretty had to protect the ceiling from over spray. so i guess you should do the walls first, then cover them from any drips while you paint the ceiling, since it is easier to tarp the walls with plastic. you didn't ask, but i'll offer, then do the trim last. good luck.
I think you would do better to spray the ceiling , instead of rolling it, especially if it has popcorn on it.Do it first. Then spray the walls holding the spray head down toward the floor as you near the ceiling, you should be able to get about 18" from the ceiling before over spray becomes a problem. Then you should roll the rest.
The yellow will be hard to cover so do your best to keep over-spray off the ceiling.
Walls first, then the ceiling. I`ve found that the blue tape pulls paint off with it.
top to bottom allways ! blue tape has less glue for easy removal . my guess is if your using spray paint on the walls there is some kind of plastic wall covering , good for you right move...guessing some more you also have a smooth ceiling painted in semi gloss or flat. once you've painted your ceiling use your blue tape to protect your ceiling also at least 8" of paper or plastic to help extend the protected area depending how accurate you are with a fizz can..good luck
