What is the best way to sand the edge of the wooden floors?
Question:We have been sanding our floors and the main part is fine. However, when we use the little circular edger, it seems to gauge the floors. Is there a special edger that anyone would recommend or is there a special technique we should know about.
Answers:
hand power is ok, or remove the skirting to get the big machine closer.

When you use the edger its all about the angle to the floor to steep and you will get gouge marks in the floor. takes a bit of trial and error to get it right.
if you are having problems hire an ordinary orbital sander and start with very coarse paper working your way down to a fine paper 3-4 different grades should do the trick. you can get sanders that have interchangeable heads for all the awkward spots
I saw a professional floor sander using BROKEN GLASS to get into the corners, he broke the glass so that it had a curved edge, and then shaved off the bits that could'nt be reached by a machine.,on being questioned he said it was better than steel scrapers.
use sand paper wrapped around a sanding block or small piece of wood. It takes a lot of muscle, but it works.
