I just bought myself a laser level,?

Question:How is it supposed to be better than a traditional level

Answers:
You didn't really say what type of laser level you have, but I have several that I received as gifts. The hand-held ones are great to determine level area on a large wall or anywhere that is a large area. Also, The length of measure is unbeatable. Plus you can project vertical and perpendicular measurements. I think if you just experiment with it, you'll say all kind of possibilities pop into your head.

good luck - it really is a time saver and reat piece of technology

It's no more accurate or precise tha a traditional level, just more convienient
Why buy it if you can't use it? Set it up in the middle of the room and shoot it at a spot then shoot it at another spot and and another, then connect the dots you made and it's a perfect level line for, painting, book shelves, anything.
Forgive me this but I had to. I have a few "TOYS" I've never taken out of the box. I love the commercial showing a guy using a laser level,,,suggesting it was a low end purchase. His wife? mate? Questions him and when he turns it on, she gets thrown through a wall. Very likely the ad has little or nothing to do with the level.

The convenience factor most often only relates to a laser level being placed, by suction or otherwise, to determine lengths in leveling where the USER has a hands free ability. It might even require more than one person in the total scheme?

Pretty obvious is the fact that a usual level achieves the same effect in close work, immediate situations like hanging a picture or determining if that far corner line is going to be level with this corner where I place the laser. Would you, or anyone notice something out of level by a 1/16th (+or -)?

I'm old school, but enjoy TOYS too. I have a wireless router;GPS system; DVR; New cell phone; I haven't mastered yet. I'm OK with that. Determine your need/use/ and frequencey of use, and buy the toy, or a $3 bubble level from a local hardware store.

Not better, just easier to use. You can shoot a line down a wall without needing to use marks. Reading the "small print" on some laser levels, I have found that many are "off" by 3/8" in 30 feet. I'll stick with my conventional level.
It shoots a beam across the room or down the wall. Pretty handy over a 2 or 4 footer for those kind of jobs.
