My deck got wet from a rain?
Question:I have to redo it because I did not place enough joists in. If I take the upper deck apart with the wood still wet will the wood warp right away? How long would it take wet wood to warp? thank you
Answers:
cant you just run more support under them without taking them apart? if you have to take them off make sure you stack them in a neat stack so that the weight from the wood on top will prevent them from warping. if your not gonna leave them off for long dont worry about it. the wood has sat in the rain before at whatever lumberyards it has been in before but they were in stacks which help prevent them from warping.
1hour duh
if it is pressure treated it wont hurt it. but if it isn't your in big trouble because whether you take it up or not sooner or later it will warp and pop out the nails or screws and cpr is right you can run more joists with out taking it apart
Depends on what kind of wood it is, If you used cedar or pressure treated like you are suppose to it will not warp.
The wood is more likely to warp or twist if it is left in the sunlight or put in any other position it should be, lay the plank on equally spaced timbers from end to end, maybe 3 or 4, and leave to dry naturally it may take a while but it is the best way!! Its a method we use at work, Hope it helps
