Toilet fills everytime water runs in bathroom or kitchen sink?
Question:I just replaced the toilet bowl. it is a cadet 3 by american standard. it stops after it is flushed, but then when someone turns on the kitchen or bathroom sink it starts to run for a few seconds and fill the bowl. any ideas on how to fix this or what the problem is? thanks.
Answers:
sounds like your septic tank needs to be pumped.
Soap (bathroom ) And grease Kitchen cling to sides pipes and then other thing(I'll leave it at that) Cause blockage. You can try the store drain cleaners but I have taken allot of pipes out and the store stuff won't help on bad pipes.
1. Try in store drain cleaners Put some in each drain.
2. If no work call plumber and have it checked. It can be really unhealthy and cause damage if really over flows.
Good luck
When you say it starts filling again, do you mean in the tank or in the bowl of the toilet? if it is indeed just filling the bowl, and you don't hear the tank filling, than you definately have an odd problem, cause if the toilet flushes fine and you sinks drain good than you don't have an issue with clogged pipes. best bet, take the cover off of the tank and watch.. flush the toilet, allow it to fill till it stops and then watch to see if it is draining, mark a line in the tank where the water is when the commode has stopped filling and watch to see if it loses water afterwards, it may be that the "flapper" is not seating properly in the drain of the tank and it is refilling after it loses water. if your faucets are indeed the problem than they would have to be drawing water from the toilet tank (very odd, and very unhealthy) you will need to call a pro in this instance!
