Potpourri question?

Question:Question for the ladies:
So I bought this bag of potpurri from a shop, it is a classic potpurri plastic bag with actual potpurri inside...Am I supposed to open it and place the contents or does it go like it is sold - unopened? i want to place it in my bathroom and in a basket but don't know whether it should be opened or closed.

Open it and put the potpourri in something, like a jar, basket, etc.
