Never ever use wax on your floors. A friend of mine got all new hardwood floors because the house keeper he had before his current one waxed the floors and you could roll the computer chair over the floors and it would scratch them or appear to have scratched them because of the build up of wax. Get one of those mops that you put the washable cloths on the bottom and there is a hardwood floor cleaner that comes in a spray bottle (its called Bona hardwood floor cleaner, you can purchase it online at www.bonakemi.com and its very reasonably priced and works wonderfully. You can even purchase the mop there if you want, but I'm sure you can also get one from wal-mart) and you spray your floors and wipe it with the mop cloth. Just make sure you use a hardwood floor cleaner with no wax whatever you decide to go with. Hope I could be of some help.
Buy a product called "Rejuvenate". Make sure you clean your floors throughly first. Then, apply the Rejuvenate with one of those sponge-like applicators with a handle and I guarantee your floors are going to look like new.
Hi. I actually have hardwood floors myself. If the floor is looking old you may want to start off by refinishing it. This is so easy I did mine myself. You sand your floors lightly, then gently wipe it down with a little paint thinner and then buy some varnish (and you can get varnish with a hint of color in it. I used varnish with a hint of amber) grab a paint brush and paint the whole floor with the varnish. Make sure not to step anywhere it's wet. When you are done your floor will be dark and shiney. Mine actually still looks wet after several months.
After you redo the floor it's not so hard to keep it up, just get some mop and glo for hardwood floors. That should do it.
