Can you paint a Butyl liner?

Question:I have a butyl liner in my pond which is black. My son wants to change it into a splash pool, and I was wondering if you can paint the liner? Are there any paints that adhere to butyl liners?

There may be some paint that would stick for a while, but I wouldn't advise it. I would look for a colored liner or plastic material that you could use in place of the black liner.
