electrical or water? best bet is to eliminate everything. start over with what you have to have, then reduce that. look at it again and further reduce that. design the system to be simple stupid and cheap. use whatever is on hand to get the most from its life. just like dieting it shouldnt cost money to quit using something too much.
idea: white roof, roof misting and ceiling level hot air extraction will all help to almost eliminate the need for a/c. means less money paid out. at this point barely running a small a/c would reduce humidity and keep a large area comfortable. savings=$20 to $150 or more depending on use and efficency sp? of current system a month.
idea2: 2 liter bottles painted black in solar box. temp=165*.
4 bottles for dishes. figure out the shower part then turn off water heater. savings=$20 to $50 or more depending on use and efficency sp? of current system a month.
idea3: microwave in summer, oven in winter. grill outside.
4: use dryer during periods of lowest temp! and humidity. morning? night?
5: like radio/music? use clock radio with big speaker. 6 to 10 watts use. typical house stereo uses 75 to 150 watts.
6: SHADE your house with something. edible plants is good. awnings, even a solar water box as an awning over a kitchen window. use hot water for dishes.
7: DONT GIVE UP! There is always something around to use, try not to buy things for improvements. Once you get used to it and know your system, it will work.
