What is the differance between Salt treated wood?

Question:

Answers:
"Salt treated" is a common name for wood which has been treated with a salt compound to deter decay. The salt is applied by infusing the wood with the salt dissolved in water under high pressure, so the same wood is often referred to as pressure treated wood.

Keep in mind that although commonly used to refer to sodium chloride ("table salt"), the word salt broadly applies to any compound that is the result of a reaction between an acid and a base. Chromated Copper Arsenate was the most common chemical until a few years ago, so "CCA treated" is also commonly used to refer to this wood, although very little is actually treated with this compound due to the arsenic component. Legal use is limited to a few industrial applications. Alkaline Copper Quarternary is presently the most commonly used chemical, so the term ACQ treated is usually correct. This chemical is not a salt, so the term "salt treated" is no longer technically correct, but will probably be used for some time.

So in short, salt treated, pressure treated, CCA and ACQ all mean generally the same thing although there are some technical differences.

its a method of drying the wood for special uses where heat treating would not be desirable.
You must be from Tenn, Va, or somewhere near here. They used to soak wood in salt water to deter bugs, but that has been replaced by pressure treating, with chemicals. Around here, they still call it 'salt teated', though. What, exactly, is your question?
Just to cover the last possible answer,
There is also wood treated for salt water contact.
It has a higher concentration of the chemical per cubic foot than the standard treated wood.
