Hope it helps, just be very careful electric can knock your socks off, or worst..be very very careful when you are doing your own work

You can go to a Home Depot or a Lowe's. They are very helpful and will explain whatever you are trying to do. They also offer classes on weekends on all sorts of home projects. (see individual store for the schedule.) Electric work can be dangerous if you are not sure what you are doing. Having someone talk you through it will help boost your confidence.
I would recommend buying a good book on household electrical. That way you'll have it to refer back to instead of tying to remember what the guy at the hardware store told you. I also recommend you buy a circuit tester just to make sure those wires are dead before you touch them. 110V can kill you if you're not careful.
