I need to build a stand for a large punching bag...?
Question:pretty much summed it up already, but I want to build one out of wood, can't really afford to buy a real one, and I have spare wood. So what should I do?

The only punching bags I've seen mounted on wood were in someone's garage and attached to the joists in the ceiling. They strengthened the joist with sandwiched laminated plywood before installing it.
sturdy ur wood and put some braces on it
you try to do it your self first if you are unable then buy the new one
I'll assume it's a floor bag not a speed bag Hung.
I'll also hope that the bag comes with a pole and mountable base. Or is it one that hangs from above and is anchored below, to a base?
Obviously laws of physics are involved, No offense, and the better choice than weighting the base would be bolting it to a floor.
If Aesthetics aren't an issue you might try concrete blocks, A free weight set you might have laying around, Theatrical weights used to hold down curtain pulls, etc.
If aesthetics are an issue you might try various forms of weighting, on a resonabley sized wooden base. Test it for stability in use, then create it into a BOX base that can be filled with whatever choice of dead weight you have, or wish to use, thus hiding the weights.
