Off grid battery charger?

Question:I live off grid and for the last 3 years we've been using a walmart brand smart charger for charging from the little honda 2000u generator when we needed it. I've gone through six of these pieces of crap. I've tried different brands but they all go out. I looked up Xantrex chargers and they are really expensive. Anyone know of an alternative to the walmart crap that won't break the bank?

Vector makes good ones. My local WalMart sells them. They have ones that cover a whole range of needs.
