How do I fix the broken wire in my headphones?
Question:When I move the wire leading to my headphones the sound cuts out, is there some fix for this?
Answers:
You need some tools for fixing headphones. these are the tools you will need: Long-nose plier, Flush-Cutting plier, Solder wick, size from 1/32 " to 1/8", Ohm meter, and a Soldering iron. Then, what you can do is try to locate which wire that is the defective one by squeezing through the wires or moving the wires when the player is being played. Cut out the wire if you feel that it is faulty wire, or if you have Ohm meter it will be easily for you to detect the one you have to fixed. you can test with the Ohm meter to see if it loses the continuity by testing the jack with the Ohm meter, and see if theres sound coming through if not, then you are on your track after troubleshooting. Slice the defective wires, connect it with soldering iron with soldering wick, then tape it with the electrical tape. Test it with Ohm meter if theres sound coming from both sides of the speakers. That's how easy it its when you have your own tools. But if in case you don't have your own tools, then probably the best thing you can do it to buy a new headphones. goodluck.
Headphones are cheap, buy more
yes there is a fix. buy some new headphones.
Just buy a new headphone!
I have done this! I had a favorite pair of digital headphones that were discontinued. There were tiny philips-head screws, use the small driver to remove, then locate the short, splice the wire, re-twist, cover with electrical tape, tuck in and close. Done in about 5 mins. You can't drive anywhere that fast, and it's free- if yours have screws.
solder the connections together or use solderless terminals that can be found at Radio Shack including all the other tools you might need.
