Artex removal!? How do you remove the ripply demon?

Question:What is the best way to remove bark effect Artex---or will I just have to plaster over it?

There is something that you can buy now that is specially for this.

It is called "smooth over" or something like that and you can even use it over wallpaper to make all walls smooth.
