I need an air conditioner that will fit into my 14 1/2 wide window.?
Question:I have found some"casement" type units that have 14 1/2" cabinets, they all say that the minmum window width is 15 1/2".
Answers:
they have portable a.c. that you just have to put hose out window. wallmart home depot ect.
All of the ones I found were discontinued when I tried to verify the details.
There are also the ones that sit on the floor and vent with hoses to the smaller window.

If it is your home, you can even cut a hole through the wall and mount whatever size you want, and then keep your window clear for light or fresh air.
