Electrical question?
Question:I have a 240VAC electric air compressor I am hooking up. The rating on the compressor is 15 amps. I will be using 12/2 romex running about 15 feet to where the compressor will be located. This will be hooked up to a double pole 20 amp breaker. Is this okay? If not what do I need to change?
Answers:
That will work fine. 12 wire is rated at 20 amps.I assume you have 12-2 with ground?
.....evildependent, why are you telling him to use 12/3? I doubt there is a place for a neutral on a 240 air compressor.
Sounds perfect! Except use 12/2 w/ground
For a 240 volt circuit, use a 12/3 with ground. Will work great.
Dookie...What if there is a noot on the compressor then he would be screwed do it right the first time for sure! Use the 12/3
yeah noot=neutral!
sounds great should work fine. 1 question are you going to use the breaker as your on / off switch or are you going to install a switch if you are going to install a switch make sure it is rated for 240volts and is a double pole single throw switch.

What the heck is a "noot"? Do you mean a neutral?
Every things sounds good ,there is no neutral 12/2 is what you use.
Sounds good to me. Though, being an electrician, I'd put it on a 20 circuit, even if it meant changing out the compressor cord end.
