Can I use different type of oils to make lava lamp other than vegetable oil?
Question:CaAnd also, is it safe for Scented Oils (which are for diffusers) to be added in an oil lamp to be lit? I was assuming If i make my own oil lamp It will help give off a better smell other than smokey scent.

I've heard of using Mineral Oil for lava lamps. I have three of them and never had to refill them yet, but, when I do, I will do a google search to find the proper thing.
My Mother refilled hers with mineral oil and it never did work right, but, thats when they first came out, in the 70s. Who knows what they are using now?
Adding anything to an "oil lamp", will make it smoke. Get the special combustable material that is recommended and if "they" scent it, then I would use thiers, or, you may have a lot of smoke and not like it.
There are very "few" things that burn clean, one is alcohol. Oils burn, but, they leave a smokey residue, because they are not as refined, even though they are "clear", they still are "heavier" than alcohol.
I believe that alcohol may burn to "hot" for an oil lamp, so, if you decide to use "that" for a "smokeless" light, check it out first as you do a google search on oil lamps and see if its 'safe'. Or, ask your local fire department!
I wish you well...

You're talking about experimenting with oils, electricity and heat. I don't think this is a good idea. A lava lamp is a sealed system anyway, so scent doesn't enter into it.
