About how much money will take for someone to build a 40x80 commercial building themselves?
Question:Not including the labour, and not including the land or landscaping because I already have that taken care of. But include all materials and a contractor for electricity, plumbing and roof truss.
Answers:
For Basic, cheapest building materials, you can estimate at $20.00 per sq. ft. and up.
It always pisses me off when people ask, "how much...", and I got to tell them, "can't say until I see exactly what you want".
Go to a building supply business with your 'plans' (you do have plans don't you?) and they will be better suited to give you a quote than just asking here "how much..."
Cuz here someone might saw $100 or $10,000 depending on what you want the building built out of, plastic sheeting or concrete blocks.
So don't be lazy and ask here do some leg work.
Get 3 bids then go with the lowest on and hire it out . My entire family is in the building industry and not even I would attempt this. Its just not worth the time involved. If you mean acting as your own general contractor thats a different story for me..but not for you same advice hire it out. thats what these people do for a living.
Is it safe for you to assume that some one could do YOUR job as easy as you think it is to do this job? Just because it is construction doesn't mean there are not a million things going on in the background. Permits, engineering, site surveying, dealing with the inspectors, dealing with engineers, dealing with the city dealing with the county. And while doing all of this you have to keep all the trades involved in the build on track so one doesn't get in the others way. sound easy well what happens when it rains and this puts the concrete guys back a week and the framing contractor only has a 2 week window to get you framed and ready to go then what do you do?? this is just one of (hundreds of different scenarios that could happen.)see its not as simple as people think.
It could cost you everything. First you didn't mention the exact size. Is the dimension in feet, meters, inches, or yards? Second, you have to be more specific. Chose the purpose of the building, a commercial building could be anything; a restaurant, a boutique, a store front, etc... So what is the purpose of the building, make the list.
1. Objective and purpose of the building.
2. Meterials that are friendly to your purpose and functions.
3. The budget, this will also goes with the estimate life span of the building, do you want to build something to serve any purpose of any period of time?
4. There are so many things to concern about.
This building could cost you everything if you didn't do it right, safety issues and code of each town, etc. Fire, water, just to name a few. So be more practical and careful, consult with someone in the business and/or have the professional done it - pick the one that have insurance. Don't go with the cheapest because you might get what you pay for, check around, ask your friends, neighbors, etc.
