Remove Paint from Anodized Aluminum?
Question:My question is, How can I remove paint from anodized aluminum, without ruining the color of it. I am getting a hard drive enclosure that is Blue anodized , and i want to take the white painted wording off of it because its tacky looking. Thanks
Answers:
most likely the paint you describe is an inkjet ink. these are solvated with MEK. with some rubbing, acetone can work as a substitue. the anodizing will not come off easily, so you have some degree of freedom to try some things to remove it. See if you can find MEK at a hardware store. it is semi-nasty stuff, so work with it outside.
Paint stripper with NMP in it (N methyl pyrrolidone) will also work with time- you would have to let is sit on there for a while.
sand paper
May be a decal. Nobody uses paint anymore. Try fingernail
Gently clean with a soft cloth and fingernail polish remover.
