self satisfaction!!-PRIDE, (but let me know if ya still don't wanna, i'll do it for ya.)
Because eventually, everyone will catch on to you, and then you will have no one left to do anything for you. And they might have built up anger also, and now that they can finely say what they feel, they will, and you will have deserved it , for being lazy, inconsiderate, and downright mean. and not only the people you have used will know it, so will everyone they talk to. You will be one lonely person, not knowing how to do anything for yourself/ Is this the person you want to be.
There a lots of things I can do for myself but prefer not to do them. It is a trade off between the desire to not do the work and the desire to keep my checking account buoyant.
Such is life, full of choices just like that.
Smiles, Cute "Q"... As a contractor I'd rarely advise in a face to face,,,"Do It Yourself"; primarily because it's how I make a living. Here however, since I can't make house calls, I offer what I know, or have experience in, so that the DIY'er can attempt doing, and maybe not have to hire a contractor.
On another note though, DO IT FOR YOU,,,would unlikely be a gratis situation, without alternatives in compensation.
There are volumes to be said about self accomplishement/ achievement, and certainly it's understandable that people ask, when they believe they might not DO something as well. I suppose the DO might be measured in the "WHAT?"

I respect your philosophy though. TY, for all the contractors of the world. :)
If you're willing to pay my "asking" price, you got a deal.
Because you get the experience of doing something yourself, so when you have no friends because you make them do stuff for you, you will know how to do it!
you shouldnt as long as you are doing something for me too
Well it depends on what you look like!
if you prefer to pay someone to come and fix it for you that is simply your choice...wouldnt be in business if everyone fixed everything theirselves..you have every right to choose whether you do it yourselve or you pay to have someone else do it
Because it would get you closer to being able to do it your self when the time comes that your alone in a bad situation. And it helps to accentuate your imagination and trouble shooting ability.
You can tell everyone that you did it and even your next generation.
i fell the same was just bought a house 2 months ago and will pay for someone to do everything even clean the windows but now my savings account looks like i have been robbed so that is the reason you diy
Mainly because I'm not going to do it the way you'd rather have it. I'll do it the way I think is right. If you do it yourself, you know it's done your way. Then, when it falls apart, you have only yourself to blame. If you don't do it yourself, you'll always wonder if you could have. Do it yourself, and you'll always know you can't.
builds character
With your attitude you couldn't get me to do it for you.
If you got me to do it for you you still got it done so you'd still be a do it yourselfer.
because i will charge you 25/hr+ and i think that's what do-it-youselfers are trying to avoid. right?
good Q. no real right answer. I do most of my home improvements myself because i like to do that kind of work. im getting geared up to replace the windows, entry doors, trim, and roofing this summer, just had a good company replace old wood fence with chainlink. I could have done it but time and a helper wasn't on my side this time. the reasons for the DYI is what ever reason you like. i like to make the upgrades and yes even the annoying repairs that a home needs. if you have doubts about your abilities on doing a job yourself find a friend with the experience and yes Home Depot has great classes (that is where i learned to do tile work).
You may have some kind of personal stake in it? I really don't know, many things I do are just as personal as they are universal.
