Can I patch and paint my fiberglass tub?
Question:I'm remodeling my bathroom, but absolutely cannot affort to replace the tub; I'm just replacing the sink, vanity, toilet, and linoleum, and giving the room a fresh coat of paint. I would like my fixtures to match, though, and the color of my tub is horrible. Is there anyway I can paint my fiberglass tub to match my new sink and toilet? I need the paint to last, and, if possible, find a fiberglass patching kit because there's some small holes in my shower wall from an old towel rack.
Answers:
Yes, just use Bondo to repair the holes then sand them down good.Next pick a breezy day open your windows and use a two part epoxy paint to paint your tub or check with the paint store they may have other paint without the strong oder (I just know that the two part paint will last)
wouldn't recommend it, but there are companies who refinish these for about 300.00... is that an option for you?
You can patch the tiny holes with bondo or something like bondo. You have to use something called "gelcoat" to pain the fiberglass.go to a boat/marine supply store.
Go to an Auto supply and you can buy a kit for Fiberglas repair and the paint should be easy to find there that will work perfectly.
yes.. they do sell kits..check your local hardware store
yes you can refinish it , by your self. compound will cost about $60.00 they have fillers for cracks. just fallow the instructions.
you don't have to spray either, you can use a small roller and with a small napp. this product is self leveling.
Yes, it can be repaired so that you will never see it. Good hardware or big box stores have the kits. If you dont want to tackle it, call a local plumbing supply outlet and ask for the name of the repair company they use. We run into this on jobsites, and they do a nice job.
