Anyone know how to unclog a toilet.??

Question:My toilet will flush but even two tiny sheets of toilet paper will not go down. Obviously I have tried a plunger.it just seems like the bowl fills up too high and does not get "sucked down" like it is supposed to. The water level in the tank seems normal. (I even tried some liquid plumber - which I know am not supposed to use in toilets.but, I am getting desperate) I don't believe there is anything in there like a wash cloth or something. If anyone could please give any ideas what to try (besides calling a plumber) I would appreciate it!! Thanks in advance!!

Answers:
sorry, you've called a plumber! It sounds like something foriegn got flushed. Get a closet auger, either a general or ridgid are good ones (available @ home depot) pull handle out till cable end is 1" from being inside shaft. stick in bowl being careful not to scratch china paint. turn handle and press down on handle till handle meets shaft, also it wouldn't hurt to bend cable end a little.Hope that helps

I know you don't want to call a plumber, but the only thing I can think of is a snake plumbers use. Perhaps your lines do need to be snaked out.
With a toilet auger . Not a snake an auger
Get yourself a toilet snake, like the one in the link below. Something may have been flushed that shouldn't have been and is too big to go down.
Once the toilet has filled back up, continue to keep plunging as hard as you can. If it's such a thing as too much bathroom tissue, the extra plunging will help. If that doesn't work, borrow a snake from someone. No, not a Cobra or a Rattler, but a plumber's snake. Maybe a friend or neighbor has one. Be careful when putting into the toilet & hopefully, you'll free what's causing the backup. If you have teens or other females in the house, remind them not to flush feminine hygiene products down the drain. Good luck!
Let some disinfectant sit in the toilet for a while. If it is excess TP or organic stuff that should help break it up. Otherwise I would suggest the snake. Absolute worse comes to worse. You can drain the toilet and pull it apart to see if it is something within the fixture itself.
there is something blocking the S trap. Try this turn the water off to the tiolet . you will need a wet dry vac sponge out as much water from the comode that you can stick the vac in and see if this removes the blockage. I have found many toys in toilets this way GOOD LUCK
if all else fails... you can always use Dynamite
I think that will solve all your plumbing problems and then some ... LOL!!
It sounds as if the rim holes and jet siphon are partially stopped up. You could take a clothes hanger an try to clear the holes. The jet siphon is the larger hole at the bottom of the bowl that lets water out of the tank when flushed. This helps start the siphoning action in the trap of the bowl.
Here's a link on how a toilet works.
http://home.howstuffworks.com/toilet3.ht...
There is a chain attached to the handle on the side of the tank. When you push on the handle, it pulls the chain, which is connected to the flush valve. The chain lifts the flush valve, which then floats out of the way, revealing a 2- to 3-inch (5.08- to 7.62-cm) diameter drain hole. Uncovering this hole allows the water to enter the bowl. In most toilets, the bowl has been molded so that the water enters the rim, and some of it drains out through holes in the rim. A good portion of the water flows down to a larger hole at the bottom of the bowl. This hole is known as the siphon jet. It releases most of the water directly into the siphon tube. Because all of the water in the bowl enters the tank in about three seconds, it is enough to fill and activate the siphon effect, and all of the water and waste in the bowl is sucked out.

Hope it helps.
