How can I melt down soap?
Question:You know how you always have those little bitty unuseable peices, how do I melt them down to make one bar?
Answers:
Grate the soap into smaller shreds
Put the grated soap into the top pot of a double boiler & add a small amount of water.
Put a lid on the pot & allow the water to boil.
Stir the soap every once in a while.
Once the soap is melted, it will take on a translucent, apple sauce type consistency.
You can also use a hand mixer to cut up the lumps.
Once all the soap has melted, scoop the soap base into molds. When the soap has hardened in the molds, you can release (from the mold) and let it "cure" (air dry) for a few weeks before using (you CAN use it earlier but the longer you air out, the longer the soap will last).
Good luck.

suck on it.
Suggestion: Instead of trying to make them into 1 bar, how about tossing them into a plastic mesh vegetable bag, tying them in, and using them as a scrubber in the tub?
I've done the 1 bar thing before. Soak the bits in the minimum amount of water, then press them together into a traveling soap holder (plastic rectangle shape) once they're pliable and will stick. Leave cover off and put in warm place. When slightly firm, pry the bar out of the mold to dry further.
