How can i calculate how much it will cost to add onto my deck?
Question:we currently have a 12X16 deck that is two stories high. we want to extend the deck to reach our master bedroom which would make the addition 6X20 and it would be atleast 2 1/2 stories high. if that is too expensive we will just go with a small patio type deck outside of our bedroom that is not connected to the existing deck. our main concern is to have a safe way to get out of our bedroom in case of fire. we have fire ladders but since it is up so high the ladder doesn't reach all the way down. we have small children and it would be hard to carry them down the ladders. i dont know if it makes a difference but we are in southeast tennessee. thanks in advance!

go to lowes.com then click do it yourself. and you can calculate how much you will need to buy then go to the store and ask a dealer
i live in new orleans area, so it would be hard to give a solid price, given the height. i bought marerial for a deck today, and would estimate your cost at around 3000. to hire it done, overall, not less than 7500. probally closer to 10,000. this is at labor rates here. your area may vary.
This is a job for SUPER DECK MAN! But he is retired. Take your idea to Home Depot, they will figure the cost and the best way to support it, for free.
