Whats a great way to remove stains from the rug?
Question:Such as High traffic areas? Spills? Dirt? I have two boys and My carpets are a mess. Any preventive care would be greatly appreciated also. I perfer Home remidies, but will accept all answers.

For protien stains( food, juice, wine, urine, vomit) these are all protien stains.
The best product I've ever used is called "Natures Miracle"
it's sold in pet stores and feed&grains..liquid and now scent..pour on the stain and leave for 1 hour..blot up the excess and let dry..donot dilute with any other liquid..pour straight from the bottle.
Now for homemade..
1 tsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp ammonia
3 tab dish soap
3/4 cup water
pour into foam dispenser bottle or lather in a bowl.
Apply foam only..scrub...blot..let dry.
Depends on the color of carpet and the stain- but just a very through vacuuming everyday should get the most dirt out and then any mild laundry soap worked into a foam and apply the foam and let it do the job and then blot the stain and vacuum again!
409 also works (I use an all-natural twin called Tough & Tender by Melaleuca which I buy on e-bay vs. a distributor). I have used the home remedy the first answerer gave, and it works, but I don't really care for the smell.
I have 3 boys, so I understand your carpet's woes. I make sure there is no food or drinks allowed wherever there is carpet, and make sure to attack stains/spills/mud asap.

Doesn't Lemon or Lime juice breakdown stains?
goo off is one...elbow grease and then scotch guard...I have lite beige so I use a little splash of bleach...the color safe sort...when you steam clean, you have to real rinse all the soap out or you will have dirty carpets within a few weeks.....2 boys.ripp up the carpet and lay down wood floors...the 50 year type !! or area rugs and a lot of them !!!!!!!
