Question:

Answers:
Carpet cover strips. We've just got some from B&Q. That's what it says on the wrapper.

"brass thingies"
Thresh Boards
Door bars or carpet edge strips.
Thresholds
I just call them brass thingies, people always know what you mean.
Carpet Edging strips
carpet edges and there is different types depending if its 2 carpet or carpet and vinyls or carpet and laminated flooring.
Thresholds...They are available at any home improvement warehouse, Lowe's, Home depot etc... In the flooring department@ Home depot or hardware @ Lowe's
there called thresholds and be care full when screwing them down some times pipe and wires run under the door threshold and you don't what to go through them.
the correct term is threshold strips, there are a few different types on the market now, as for one example your living room floor meets the kitchen ,but your kitchen floor is 5mm higher than the living room, this requires a different threshold strip.
so make sure ,if not take your old one with you ,in order to get the correct one .
carpet bars, or transition strips
twin carpet bars or twin naplocks
I would not call them brass thingies, most, if not all, are not brass, but aluminum that has been plated or anodized.
Carpet Edging comes in 8' strips, but you may find them cut to door size.
Never heard of brass or other metal thingies used at the edge. Below the carpet you use gripper strips, great for ripping lumps out of your hands. between rooms you could use some brass carpet strips but be careful there are several different types and you will look green going to replace the one you bought in the first place... beware of heating pipes just where you need to drill for a screw fixing.
Gripper plates .
Thresholds, and as someone said earlier be careful with screws 4 pipes and things just liquid nail them . I'm sure the next person will be able 2 scrape it of after .Check on the tube though!!
