How do you get rid of carpenter bees?

Question:

Answers:
I have tried the insecticides, but only work for a short time. The best defense is to know your enemy. The link below will help. The best way to eliminate or reduce the pest is to hang plastic soffet or metal flashing under your eaves. I used Aluminum Flashing.

Fill their holes with "Great Stuff" insulation. Do it at night when you know they are home. Entombment, and repair in a single stroke.
yes the best way to get rid of carpenter bees is to frist use an insecticide. Then fill in the holes with great stuff and do this at night so that all the scout bees have returned and the heat of the dayis gone. bees are less active at night. caution you will get some scout that will come back late. they will try to find the nest just spray them with bee and wasp killer.
They sell akind of "bait" that they will eat and take to their colony that will kill them, kind of like ant's do
I have had this problem before in the past. The problem is that carpenter bee's love untreated wood. They will bore it unmercifully until you do something with it.
I use Thompsons waterseal to treat the wood. The Bee's don't care for this stuff. This has seemed to help and I have not had anymore problems since. If you are putting up a new structure, make sure you use pressure treated lumber.
I have read where others just used paint. Just plugging the holes will not work.
Goodluck!
