what should i do?

Answers:
Conserve water by:
1. Covering spaces between plants--use grass clippings, landscape fiber, etc.
2. Use discarded plastic containers embedded in ground to bring water to root zone.
Improve the soil by:
1. Bury discarded vegetable material to improve tilth of ground. (Throw away diseased materials)
2. Do ph and mineral analysis of soil--then balance it.
Control weeds by:
1. Prefer to pull weeds by hand when they are small.
2. Use other mechanical means to fight weeds--only use chemicals when desperate, and then in small amounts.

the best way to improve a new garden is by improving the soil. It's all about the soil. you will want to add organic material such as composted manure(not fresh manure).. Pretty much any manure which has had time to dry and break down a bit. If it is still moist and smelly it is too fresh. Peat moss can also be added but not too much as this can cause the soil to become too acidic. Good luck.
