How do you rock a new prefab fire place?

Question:i have a new home that im building i need to know how tobuild the fire place and rock it but mostly how to rock it.

Answers:
PRE-FAB? Does this mean something other than what's usually thought of as a fireplace?

Wall building, surface mount rock or even faux rock, should be at least flat on one edge; probably then installed with mortar over a wire mesh attached to whatever the substance of the fireplace walls are; should fit well enough together over each successive course to look natural; and probably should be installed with enough mortar to at least squeeze minimally into each joint/seam/space between.

You probably should do just one course at a time, and use a level and snap line to at least estimate each course as you move up the face of the fireplace,,,allowing that you won't be off obviously from one side to the other.

Totally a speciality item. Ain't gonna find this at Home Depot.
Look in Yellow Book under 'Stone'. In my local metropolitan area (pop. approx 125K) we have two places.
Get you wallet out cause this ain't cheap. Speciality stores charge top dollar and the nicer you want it to look the more $$$.
As far as putting the stone in place, it's just mortar (like mortar for bricks). By the way, this is also a speciality job (lotta art goes into the looks of it). Sure, you can just slap stuff up on what you got, but, it takes a good eye to make it look beautiful.
Slowly and gently, also humm a soft little tune till it's asleep.

Just kiddin, I think what you are asking is a little too complex for this venue. I suggest that you go down to Home Cheapo and find a book on the subject. Pictures are worth a thousand words you know.
I lived with a contractor who did this to the front of my house. He went out and got loads of flat rock sorta rounded, then began to put them up with concrete like a puzzle, he used nails to set the rock on to hold them til they set up-then finish in between with concrete (mortar). Then when done, use Thompson's waterseal on it.
