Skim Coating DIY.?

Question:Skim Coating:

Is it easy to Skim Coat. We want to Skim Coat the walls to rid of the texture and make walls smooth and leveled. Is their technique or ways to Skim Coat so that walls are leveled. What type of sandpaper/sander do we use to sand the walls??? Also, The ceiling curves to meet the walls. Do we use the same technique to Skim Coat the ceiling? Do we Skim coat the ceiling to rid of the texture?

http://www.midwestrake.com/divisions/dec... This was originally created for the drywall market, I think you'll like it (minimal sanding). Also, I hate to say it but you should do the ceiling too. You could create a line to stop your texture at and see how it looks.

-what type of paint is on the walls and ceiling.. you can try and wet them good with water and see how easy it scrapes off.. it will take a few layers of drywall mud to smooth it out.. you could roll the mud on and use a 12" or bigger knife to smooth it out.. i would use topping compound its eaiser to sand.. i wouldnt use an electric sander.. just do more light layers and sand with the bigger spounges. the ceiling is gonna wear you out.. maybe get one of the rolling carts to work off.. lowes/hd 100.00
